This Darjeeling is from Happy Valley Estate. The Estate is only 2 miles from the town of Darjeeling, and the tea is grown at an altitude of up to 9,000 feet. Some are surprised when they first taste a Darjeeling tea, and often don’t believe that it is a black tea. The flavor is lightly musky-sweet and muscatel. The word Darjeeling originates from two Tibetan words: “Dorje” and “ling.” “Dorje” signifies “thunderbolt” which according to Hindu mythology is the staff of God Indra. The word “ling” means “an area,” or “spot.” So, the name “Darjeeling” signifies the “place where there is thunderbolt.” Please steep this tea at 175 degrees for 2-3 minutes.
