Japanese Tea Ceremony Workshop
Join this session to learn about the history and culture of the Japanese Tea Ceremony, and to taste the flavors. The Japanese Tea Ceremony is known as Chanoyu or Chadō in Japan. It is over 400 years old and yet continues to evolve, remaining relevant to modern times. Participants will be introduced to contextual elements of the ceremony, thus allowing a fuller appreciation of the demonstration. After the demo, all participants will enjoy a sample of usucha (made from the ground tea leaf and whisked ceremonially) and a Japanese tea sweet. There will be time for discussion and questions. This session is ideal for children aged 12 and above.
Stephanie Lemmons Wilson, life-long tea lover, has been a student of Chanoyu for 14 years, studying at Issoan Tea School. She is grateful to live in the Pacific Northwest where there is a thriving passion for tea.
This class requires at least four participants to take place.
